Vehicle Preparation

AUTOMOBILE CHECKLIST

 

Wash Car – In order to expedite origin inspection, please provide the vehicle in a clean condition.  This allows for a fast evaluation of the vehicle prior to shipment and establishes the standard for condition of delivery.

 

Antennas – Should be removed or lowered.  Temporary antennas for cell phones or CB radios should also be removed.

 

Keys – The USDOT requires that one set of keys for the vehicles are provided to the carrier, including: ignition, doors, trunk and glove box.

 

Racks – Remove any luggage, bike or ski rack that is not permanently attached to the vehicle.

 

Cracked Glass – Should the vehicle glass have a crack, chip, nick, scratch or other imperfection, Viking Transport is not responsible for any damage caused by a pre-existing condition.

 

Climate – Make sure you replenish all coolants, transmission oil and other fluids as needed.  Have your car ready for any climate.

 

Fuel – Please make sure your vehicle has enough fuel to get the vehicle on and off the transport.  The vehicle may also need to be moved around during the transport.  Please provide at least ¼ tank of fuel.

 

Spoilers – Spoilers, air dams, fairings or other low hanging items should be removed or sufficient clearance assured to expedite loading on the truck ramps.

 

Caps/Canopies – Must be properly bolted down to ensure transport safety.

 

Personal Items – Do not leave anything of value in the vehicle during transport.  Viking Transport is not responsible for anything left in the car including but not limited to cell phones, radar detectors, removable radios, household goods, sunglasses, etc.

 

Pickup & Delivery Locations – As gone over elsewhere, please make sure the pickup and delivery locations are transport truck accessible.

 

Pickup & Delivery Times – Please be sure that you have chosen times that allow someone to be present for the pickup and delivery of the vehicle.

 

Contact Numbers – Be sure contact persons are available by phone between the hours of 7:30am to 9:00pm.  There may be weekend and night deliveries, so please pick numbers that will be answered when the drivers call.  Sometimes cell phones work best.  Pagers or voice mail numbers cannot be accepted.

 

MOTORCYCLE CHECKLIST

 

Size – Make sure your motorcycle is no longer than 96” long or 40” wide.  Contact us for your special requirements.

 

Fuel Tank – Please have a minimum of fuel in the tank – no more than ¼ tank.

 

Steering – Make sure the steering is unlocked and the keys are removed, but accessible to the driver.

 

Mirrors – Should be folded in if possible.

 

Pickup & Delivery Locations – As gone over elsewhere, please make sure the pickup and delivery locations are transport truck accessible.

 

Pickup & Delivery Times – Please be sure that you have chosen times that allow someone to be present for the pickup and delivery of the vehicle.

WATERCRAFT CHECKLIST

 

Contents – Make sure that all loose items in your vessel, such as plates, galley utensils, or any other non-secured items have been secured or removed from the vessel.

 

Fuel/Water/Septic – Empty all fuel, water and other fluids from the vessel.

 

Electric – Disconnect all battery cables and switch off main breaker.

 

Attachments – Secure or stow all covers, tops, curtains and seat cushions.

 

Drain Plug – Remove the plug from the craft before transport.  It is your responsibility to replace the plug before launching your boat after transport.

 

Windows – You will need to stow and secure all removable plastic and Plexiglas windshields below.

 

Winter Transport – If you are moving the boat during winter months, you need to winterize the engine, toilets, water system and/or any other weather sensitive system on the vessel.

 

Shrink-wrap Covering – A poor shrink-wrap may tear due to the high winds generated by road travel.  If this happens, the vessel may suffer damage from the shrink wrap beating, chafing or scratching the vessel.  Viking Transport cannot accept responsibility for damages caused by shrink-wrap.

 

Oversized Vessels – If a larger boat needs to be loaded transom forward, then the craft must be well shrink-wrapped or we cannot accept liability that may occur to the windshield during transport.

 

Sailboats – Remove all standard rigging, lights, spreaders, wind indicators and any type of mast rigging prior to transport.  Viking Transport cannot assume liability for damage such as scratches or abrasions to the mast, to the rigging or to lights left on the mast during transport.

 

Personal Items – All personal belongings should be removed from the vessel before transport.  This includes cash and valuables, clothing, sporting goods or any other materials not part of the boat
